Class of 2014 Black Belts - Michael Camargo JKN
My Journey To Black Belt
By: Michael Camargo JKN

Before I joined Kuk Sool Won, at the age of 15, I had a lot of anger built up inside, and I had a lot of hatred, turmoil, depression, and aggressive behavior.
I knew I had to get control of this. I first told my father I wanted to join martial arts because I knew that if anything was going to help me, it was going to be martial arts.
So, my father told me a maximum of how much he was willing to pay per month. I searched all through the internet, called a few places and everything was too expensive. Then I finally found Kuk Sool Won greater of Flint. I was curious about this school.
I asked how much it was and it was in my father’s budget. I did a class and I fell in love with it. I had become an official member and my WKSA ID number was 313-1-215.

As a yellow belt, I felt little more confident, and a little closer towards the Kuk Sool Won family. I was ignorant because I felt invincible. But, at blue and red belts that feeling was gone and was replaced with honor. Also, I knew how to control my anger and become better with self-discipline, and self-respect, but also respect for all others. At brown belt I felt at home with my Kuk Sool Won family, and loved to help teach, because I felt needed and important.
At Black-Brown belt I was in love with Kuk Sool Won, I couldn’t be happier; I learned all respect, discipline, body conditioning, honor, and pride within Kuk Sool Won.
As black belt now, my family and friends never thought much of martial arts for six and a half years since September 1st, 2008 everyone is now shocked how much dedication and how much it shows to the community of the good that it does. Just not the community but what we can do to make the world a better place.
